JoAn Kahaiali'i
Operations Manager
Born in the Philippines and raised in Hilo, on the Big Island of Hawai’i, Joan Kahaiali’i has grown up to love art and music. Homes and their bones were always a growing curiosity and everyday you could always catch her expressing her creativity, whether it would be writing poetry, doodling a brick wall, or drawing a blink 182 portrait. She has tried different forms of art from block printing to digital art, but always found peace with a plain piece of paper and a thin black pen, imagining a floor plan come to life.
After high school she received her Associates Degree in Architectural Engineering and CAD Technologies and worked as a Draftsman for four and a half years. She specialized in manual drafting, field measures and is proficient with AutoCAD. Although her attempt to receive her Bachelors Degree has been put on hold, you can always find her looking at the “cool new thing” in Architecture.
Joan moved to Maui 12 years ago and has become a part of the close-knit community of Lahaina, as a regular musician at Kimo’s Restaurant and as a Basketball Coach for West Maui Youth. She is a wife to a Lahaina boy and a mother to one beautiful baby girl.
Now, as the Business Development and Operations Manager at Kasprzycki Designs, Joan manages the flow of the office and optimizes day-to-day activities. She analyzes business operations and identifies customer needs in order to bring the two closer together. She also manages permit and private entity design review submittals, municipal communications and monitors the approval process. Additionally, she supports the design team, by generating finish boards and assisting with field measuring. She has always had the dream of combining her two passions by becoming an architect by day, and a musician by night and working at Kasprzycki Designs brings her closer to her goals. She is excited to be in an industry that continuously inspires her imagination.
